In the world of construction and renovation, finding the perfect general contractor is akin to finding the missing piece of a puzzle. Whether it’s a home renovation, commercial construction, or custom home building, the expertise and reliability of your general contractor are paramount. To help you find a reliable general contractor that you can rely on to deliver quality results, like Hami Construction Inc., here are some practical tips to keep in mind:
Start your search by checking online resources. Websites, review platforms, and social media can provide valuable insights into local contractors’ reputations and portfolios. Pay attention to reviews and ratings from previous clients.
Ask for Referrals
Seek recommendations from friends, family, and colleagues who have had positive experiences with general contractors. Personal referrals can be invaluable in finding a trustworthy professional. Ask about their overall satisfaction with the contractor’s work and communication.
Once you’ve identified potential contractors, schedule consultations with them. During these meetings, discuss your project in detail, ask questions, and assess their communication and responsiveness. Pay attention to how well they listen to your ideas and address your concerns.
Verify that the contractor you choose is licensed and insured. Additionally, request references and review their previous work to ensure their expertise aligns with your project’s requirements. Contact references to inquire about their experiences and the quality of the contractor’s work.
Get Multiple Bids
Obtain bids from several contractors to compare pricing and project timelines. Keep in mind that the lowest bid may not always be the best choice; consider the contractor’s reputation, experience, and the quality of their work.
Check for Permits and Licenses
Ensure that the contractor obtains the necessary permits for your project and complies with local building codes. Verify that they have the required licenses and insurance coverage. This step is crucial to avoid potential legal and safety issues.

In 1798, José María Verdugo, a corporal in the Spanish army from Baja California, received the Rancho San Rafael from Governor Diego de Borica, formalizing his possession and use of land on which he had been grazing livestock and farming since 1784. Rancho San Rafael was a Spanish concession, of which 25 were made in California. Unlike the later Mexican land grants, the concessions were similar to grazing permits, with the title remaining with the Spanish crown. The Catalina Verdugo Adobe is the city’s oldest building. It was built on Rancho San Rafael, granted to José María Verdugo in 1784, which included all of modern-day Glendale.
New Spain achieved its independence from the Spanish Empire in 1821, and from 1824, Rancho San Rafael existed within the new Mexican Republic.
Mexican rule ended during the Mexican-American War: Americans took control from the Californios after a series of battles, culminating with the signing of the Treaty of Cahuenga on January 13, 1847. With the cession of California to the United States following the Mexican-American War, the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo provided that the land grants would be honored. As required by the Land Act of 1851, a claim was filed with the Public Land Commission in 1852, confirmed by the Commission in 1855, and the grant was patented to Julio and Catalina Verdugo in 1882.Learn more about Glendale.
