In the world of construction and renovation, finding the perfect general contractor is akin to finding the missing piece of a puzzle. Whether it’s a home renovation, commercial construction, or custom home building, the expertise and reliability of your general contractor are paramount. To help you find a reliable general contractor that you can rely on to deliver quality results, like Hami Construction Inc., here are some practical tips to keep in mind:
Research Online
Start your search by checking online resources. Websites, review platforms, and social media can provide valuable insights into local contractors’ reputations and portfolios. Pay attention to reviews and ratings from previous clients.
Ask for Referrals
Seek recommendations from friends, family, and colleagues who have had positive experiences with general contractors. Personal referrals can be invaluable in finding a trustworthy professional. Ask about their overall satisfaction with the contractor’s work and communication.
Schedule Consultations
Once you’ve identified potential contractors, schedule consultations with them. During these meetings, discuss your project in detail, ask questions, and assess their communication and responsiveness. Pay attention to how well they listen to your ideas and address your concerns.
Check Credentials
Verify that the contractor you choose is licensed and insured. Additionally, request references and review their previous work to ensure their expertise aligns with your project’s requirements. Contact references to inquire about their experiences and the quality of the contractor’s work.
Get Multiple Bids
Obtain bids from several contractors to compare pricing and project timelines. Keep in mind that the lowest bid may not always be the best choice; consider the contractor’s reputation, experience, and the quality of their work.
Check for Permits and Licenses
Ensure that the contractor obtains the necessary permits for your project and complies with local building codes. Verify that they have the required licenses and insurance coverage. This step is crucial to avoid potential legal and safety issues.

The Santa Clarita Valley has been settled for millennia before European arrival. The oldest archaeological site in the area dates back to roughly 3000 BC. About AD 450, the Tataviam arrived, displacing the Chumash people who previously inhabited the area. The Tataviam lived in approximately 20 villages in the valley and surrounding areas including Piru, Agua Dulce, and Elizabeth Lake.
In the 18th century, Spanish colonists arrived in southern California including Santa Clarita, founding mission settlements. The Mission San Fernando was founded in 1797 in present-day Mission Hills, just 9.5 miles (15.3 km) south of downtown Newhall. In 1822, Alta California, which included most of the present-day southwestern United States including all of California, became a territory of the newly independent country of Mexico.
The 48,612-acre (196.73 km2) Rancho San Francisco land grant was issued by Juan Bautista Alvarado, governor of Alta California, to Mexican army officer Antonio del Valle. It was an agricultural area serving the nearby Mission San Fernando.
